Have you ever started your year by asking Father what He has planned for you that year? If not, let me challenge you to be adventurous and do just that for 2019. You can keep asking each day until it’s clear.
I do this at the beginning of each year for my family and for Grace Life International. For example, last year He told me 2018 would be a year of recovery and transition. I didn’t know what that meant but as the year unfolded, it was amazing to watch Him fulfill what He had said would happen. (When I write, “He told me”, I mean He spoke words to my mind that were accompanied by His peace. He can speak in other ways, too.)
Our staff, family members, and the overall organization began to recover from a previous year of great spiritual attacks. Once I heard from Him, it was a joy to watch and discover what He meant. Now there is a greater sense of peace for all of us. (However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t still challenges, too!)
One of the characteristics of God we sometimes don’t think about is that He is very talkative and loves for us to listen to what He has to say. Just start reading in Genesis and you will discover story after story of this. Because He is relational, we should expect Him to talk to us. Isn’t that encouraging?
Someone asked me a very good question about this. They wondered whether we need to have a special time to listen or can we listen in the busyness of life. The answer is we can do either because our God is relational, not religious. We’ve been programmed to believe He is; but that’s not the God we see expressed through Jesus Christ during His time on this earth.
If you think you hear a major decision God is telling you to make while listening to Him, bounce that off of someone you trust whom you know lives from Father’s wisdom. For me, depending on what it is, I ask my Directors or my wife. So, in any manner you enjoy listening to God or talking to Him, ask Him what He has in store for you in 2019.
Keep Growing in Grace!
