Christian Parents Must Address Gender Identity
Beyond He or She: How a New Generation is Redefining the Meaning of Gender. Time Magazine recently featured this tagline as their cover story in their March 16, 2107 issue.
As Christian parents, your kids are being bombarded with these ideas every day. The question we must ask ourselves is this: Are we as Christian parents having conversations with our young or teen children about gender identity? We cannot put our heads in the sand believing our children will not be confused by all they are hearing. They will and probably already are. At best, Satan has put doubt in their minds about gender identity – maybe even their own.
I will be dealing with this issue head on in my upcoming Parenting by Grace Conference April 7-8. While it will only be a part of the Conference, I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to address this so parents can be better equipped to talk with their kids about this very critical issue.
There is much I will share but I will give you a peak into the topic. In Genesis 1:27, we read, So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Gender was God’s idea and God’s design. And He also linked it to the deepest identity we have – our identity in Christ when He created us in His image. As parents, how do we make that connection for our kids without being preachy or judgmental? To love our children well, we need to approach this topic by grace, but how?
That is one of the many topics I will be teaching on in the Parenting by Grace Conference, Friday night, April 7, and Saturday morning, April 8. You can attend in your home or anywhere as long as you have a computer, tablet or cell phone. It doesn’t matter what state or country you live in. You can also come to our Charlotte office.
