Our guest blogger this week is Renée Berry, a counselor and teacher at Grace Life International for 19 years. The following is from her new book, Invite Him In: Jesus in Seasons of Adversity.
If my concept of You reverts to the long-standing lie that You are not trustworthy God, then my thinking becomes twisted. Deformed soul-concepts will cause me to bite the fruit of sin just as Adam and Eve did in the garden. I find myself immersed in a critical time where I need to be nourished by Truth. I define Truth as You, Jesus. I see You as the exact representation of God.
I choose to focus solidly on Truth today. The urgency of this need arises because there is talk of planning a funeral today—mine! In considering my own death, I have come squarely face to face with You, Lord. Either I trust You or I do not. I Invite You In to minister Truth to me. I am in You and You are in me. What characteristic of Yours do I need manifested in our union today?
As I Invite You In, I realize I can call on You to be anyone I need: Father, Husband, Lover of my soul, Best Friend. The list goes on infinitely. Because of Your faithfulness, You are everything I need.
