I was at work yesterday and got on the internet to order some supplies. While waiting for my supplier site to come up, I spotted a headline that involved the Walmart billionaire family, the Walton’s. It was talking about how many billions each one had. I thought to myself, they really didn’t do anything to earn that money! It was simply an inheritance from their dad’s hard work.
Well, you can imagine where God took that thought-I started thinking about wills and inheritance. When someone dies and you’re named in their will as an inheritor you might go to their lawyer’s office and witness the reading of the will.
I also started thinking about a question that can encourage us all. That is, when was the last time you let someone read your heavenly Father’s will to you?
This is a great way to be reminded of the many gifts you have inherited.
They are as follows:
Romans 8:17- And if children, then heirs-heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ
Romans 8:1 – No condemnation
Isaiah 61:7 – Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance
Romans 6:18 – Slaves of righteousness
Hebrews 7:25 – He always lives to make intercession for them (You!)
John 16:13 – He will guide you into all the truth
Eph 1:1- Saints
Eph 1:2 – Grace to you and peace
Eph 1:3 – Blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing
Eph 1:4 – Chose us in him before the foundation of the world
Eph 1:4 – Holy and blameless
Eph 1:5 – Predestined us for adoption
Eph 1:7 -.Redemption through his blood.
Ephesians is a good place to sit and stay a while:)
A personal word to you: These verses are some of the infinite gifts that have been left to you who are in Christ. They are rich verses of Truth and good to take to memory. However, my prayer is that God would show you, in a personal way, what it is you need to know that you’ve inherited from Him. I hope you’ll ask Him. I know He will speak to you personally.
I’ll leave you with this prayer:
Eph 1:17 – That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe. Amen!
