Before I understood the life-giving “grace message”, I operated from the life-taking “law mentality”. My mindset was that transformation is a result of memorizing Scriptures, praying lengthy prayers, weekly fasting, and sharing the gospel with everything that moves and doesn’t move. While those are some great things when done from a posture of grace, the reality is that this misguided “try harder Christianity” did not transform me but rather deformed me spiritually, emotionally, and relationally.
I once thought that all of the activities above would produce what Romans 12:2a says. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” What I did not realize is that if a person does not know and understand the “grace message”, that person will view all of those as ways to get more of God’s love, blessings, and acceptance, based on their sure sincerity and determined discipline.
A renewed mind is one that God has and is transitioning from a “law mentality” to a “grace mentality”. A “grace mentality” is convinced that anyone in Christ is: forgiven past, present, and future; intimate with and loved by Jesus from within; a growing realization that God’s best is to rely on Jesus to live through us; full of an identity that is in Christ alone. That “law mentality” leads to weariness while this “grace mentality” leads to restfulness.
What if you could spend time with one of the most transparent, insightful, speakers in our days who has such a way with words that you could drink deeply from the “grace message”? What if you could hear one talk that could move you further into a “grace mentality” to transform you further than you are today? You have that opportunity on November 7 when John Lynch will be our special speaker at Grace Life International’s Virtual 25th Anniversary. You will also hear about how Jesus’s grace has transformed thousands. This is a Saturday night event which will last about 30 minutes beginning at 7:00 pm EST.
