Often, we are not aware when we are in spiritual warfare. Yet, Satan is real. He hates you and will never stop his mission to try to influence you. Jesus said it this way, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” John 10:10. Satan cannot take away your salvation but wants to destroy you. Jesus, on the other hand, came so you could live as a fully alive child of God. Yet, many Christians are constantly defeated by the unseen powers of Satan’s kingdom without realizing they can live from their victory in Christ instead.
Could many of the problems you and I experience be attacks on us from our common Enemy? He constantly bombards us with culture’s thinking and the sins of our flesh against us. Did you know he puts thoughts in our minds that sound like us talking, but it’s not us? The good news is there is a way to live free in Christ!
In the movie, “Inception,” a line perfectly describes the battlefield of many of our personal, relational, and habitual problems. “Your mind is the scene of the crime.” Yet, we can unwittingly open doors to Satan and the demonic world that permits them to put more thoughts in our minds as part of their strategy. An example of this is in Ephesians 4:26-27. 26 “In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold”. This lets us know that when we don’t quickly resolve our anger, primarily through forgiving someone, we give Satan a foothold.
The apostle John wrote two amazing truths to encourage us. “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8b
Please understand this!
WE ARE NOT IN A POWER STRUGGLE WITH SATAN. WE ARE IN A TRUTH STRUGGLE.
We can ignore we are in a battle with Satan. We can acknowledge we are in a fight but use religion’s way of trying to overcome Satan. Or, we can believe that Satan and his unseen world are real and learn how to live in the victory of Jesus the grace way. Notice…the grace way!
