In our attempt to live a life that pleases God, we may use phrases like these.
I need to make Jesus the center of my life.
I need to get closer to Jesus.
I need to be more committed to Jesus.
Each of these reveals the deep desire we have as a new creation in Christ, but they fall short of God’s best for us. Here’s the bullseye that hits the target of what the Christian life is all about.
Colossians 3:4 tells us, “When Christ, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.” Do you see it? Christ is your life.
Have you ever heard people say things like this? “My kids are my life.” My job is my life.” My music is my life.”
This Scripture says that, too, but it is rich in meaning because Christ is IN US! We were spiritually dead, but Christ is our life. We were sinners, but Christ is our righteousness. We were unholy, but Christ is our holiness. We were unwise, but Jesus is our wisdom. We were impatient, but He is also our patience. We were unacceptable, but Christ is our acceptance. We were unlovable, but Christ is our lovableness, and so much more!
This is the heart of the gospel. This is the true center of how we can live a changed life.
We can live for Jesus because we can live from Him – in us.
Ask Him to live through you in every situation you face because He is your life!
