The Hidden Strength in Weakness: Finding Hope When You Feel Broken

Do you ever feel weak or broken? Sure, everyone does, including me. When we do, how do we find the strength to move forward?

First, embrace where you are. Otherwise, you will miss the hidden strength God offers to you in Christ.

Paul prayed three times for God to remove his own weakness. He may have felt broken, too, because he couldn’t understand how he couldn’t fulfill what God had given him to do. Yet, he then discovered the answer as God shared the following with him.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:8 ESV.

It’s humbling when we feel broken and weak, but we are not doomed to the exhaustion of trying to change ourselves. Our God delights in us and is eager to show us the strength in us because Christ is in us. I think Paul’s response was something we can all latch onto in our own lives.

“Now I am glad to boast about how weak I am; I am glad to be a living demonstration of Christ’s power, instead of showing off my own power and abilities.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT

Finally, Christ in you IS your strength. He is our hope. So, tell him often that you believe you rely on him, not yourself.
