Over the past twenty years of counseling, coaching, and teaching, my staff and I have had a front-row seat to watch great healing in those who experience God’s love. Of course, this is available to everyone who has believed in Jesus Christ as their Savior, but let me explain it further.
Experiencing God’s love transcends believing in its factual knowledge. While knowing this Biblically is essential, other teachings often contradict it, making it seem conditional on what we do instead of what Jesus and His finished work already did. So, let’s look at a few Scriptures to help us get started.
In His prayer to the Father for all of us who would believe, Jesus concluded with this: John 17:26. I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them. Isn’t that great? Because Jesus lives in us, He brings with Him the Father’s love for us. He is love!
Paul wrote the gospel truth that we would do well to believe over and over in Romans 5:5. The love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. The moment you were saved, the Holy Spirit came to live in you, pouring into our new hearts in Christ the Father’s unconditional, rich, ever-present love. (The word “God” is often used to reference God the Father in the New Testament.)
Why don’t you take a few minutes each day this week to thank God that because Jesus Christ lives in you, you are loved just as much as He loves Jesus?
